QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

“How do I install it, do I need to drill or run wires?”

In most cars and vans, installation is easy: you plug the OBD locator into the car's OBD connector and the service starts. If the car does not have a suitable OBD installation or you want a hidden installation, you can choose a permanently installed locator.

OBD-malli on “plug & play”.

“Why do I sometimes see straight lines/jumps on the map when looking at the car's daily route?”

This is usually due to poor GPS signal (e.g. parking garage, tall buildings). Please email us with the time and vehicle and we will review the logs and ensure the device is working properly. Connection loss notifications can be enabled so that anomalies are immediately noticed.

GPS positioning normally improves while driving. If the signal is blocked, the location may update less frequently or use the last reliable point. In addition, the 4G/LTE connection affects when the points are transferred to the service.

“Why does the car sometimes appear on the map in a different location than it actually is?”

This is due to a time delay. There may be a delay in recording your GPS location if there is a temporary outage in the mobile network.

If the car appears in a different location than where it is at the time of viewing, check the time in the location details box. The details show where the car was when the car was last GPS-enabled.

“Will the battery drain if the tracker is on all the time?”

Normal use does not drain the battery, but if the car already has a weak battery or the car has been parked for a long time, it is a good idea to monitor the situation. The service can utilize a battery voltage alarm. You can set the lowest voltage, after which the service will send an email when the battery voltage drops below the limit value.

The OBD device is powered by the car and its power consumption is designed for continuous use. Long periods of inactivity, cold and weak batteries are typical risk factors. Battery voltage monitoring and alarm limits help detect problems before the battery is discharged excessively.

“Do I have to keep the tracker on during private rides as well? I don’t want all rides to be tracked.”

Privacy is taken into account: the driver of the car can report work trips to the employer, other trips remain private.

Work/private driving is marked with the work driving button, and the markings can be corrected later if necessary. If you want to stop tracking completely, you can disconnect the OBD tracker. If the device is also connected during private driving, continuous mileage readings will be recorded in the driving log.

“How do I get a driving logbook for the tax office – will it come ready-made somehow?”

Trips are automatically saved and you receive driving log and travel expense reports that can be used for taxation and travel expense reporting.

If necessary, you will receive a daily allowance report in addition to a driving logbook, which includes mileage reimbursements and full and partial daily allowances.

“Will this work on my phone or do I need to install some program?”

The program works in a browser - you can report trips on your computer, tablet, or phone without separate installation.

Browsers: Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox,...

“How much does this really cost? Will there be any hidden charges on the bill?”

No additional costs. Payments are made at the purchase stage: Fixed equipment fee (price of the tracker) and payment for the first year, i.e. 12 months. After that, an annual fee every 12 months. No start-up fee, no delivery costs or billing surcharges.

“We have several cars and different work groups monitor different cars – will the permissions work?”

Yes. Users can create their own IDs and limit their view to one car, a group of vehicles, or the entire fleet.

“Why are there ‘connection lost’ notifications, is the device broken?”

The notification does not always indicate a hardware fault – it could be that the car has not been driven and therefore no location information has been recorded. Other reasons include a weak GPS signal, a loss of connection from the tracker to the mobile network (fault situation) or a situation related to the power supply. If notifications are received frequently, we will investigate the cause if necessary.

If you suspect a device fault, first check that the tracker is receiving power from the car. For OBD trackers, check that the tracker is plugged into the OBD connector. If you suspect that the cause is a weak GPS signal, try another installation location and, if necessary, let us know the time of the outage so that we can check.

“Can I transfer spatial data to my own information system?”

Yes, integrations are possible. Tell us what information you want (routes, working hours, work types, areas) and we will find the most suitable way.

An RT-API interface is available for automatic data transfer. If you need an API connection, please ask sales for more information.

“We need to separate plowing and sanding work, but for other work we need more than 3 types of work, is that possible?”

Yes. In the basic solution, there are 3 job types with the job type button, but with the mobile app, there can be an unlimited number of job types.

“Can the locator be installed on 24V machines?”

Yes, we also supply 12/24V fixed-mount locators for work machines.

The OBD model is primarily for cars and vans that have an OBD connector. For work machines, it is often most sensible to use a model that is permanently installed in the car or machine's 12/24 V voltage.

“What if the device breaks down – will we be left without tracking for weeks?”

The devices have a replacement guarantee in case of faults or problems throughout the contract period. The goal is to get a replacement device quickly so that monitoring can continue.

In the event of a fault, we first diagnose: power, GPS, mobile connection and installation. If a device fault is confirmed, we will send a new device to replace the old one. Warranty replacement does not require the old one to be returned. The faulty device can be returned after the new device has been received and installed in place of the old one.

“What is the positioning interval?”

Rides are automatically recorded, and the frequency is designed to ensure reliable routes and reports.

The positioning frequency when the target is moving is typically 5–10 seconds. This improves route accuracy (e.g. construction site visits, yards, areas).
